Testing Your Meta Pixel: How to Know if It's Actually Tracking

You installed the Pixel. You feel smart. But is it actually doing anything? You don't want to run ads for a month only to realize the Pixel wasn't plugged in. You need to test it.

Testing Your Meta Pixel: How to Know if It's Actually Tracking

There is a free tool for this called the Meta Pixel Helper.

Step 1: Install the Chrome Extension

It is a free plugin for the Google Chrome browser. Download it.

Step 2: Go to Your Website

Click the little icon in your browser bar. If it turns blue and green, it found a Pixel! If it stays grey, you have a problem.

Step 3: Test Events

Click "Add to Cart" on your site. The Pixel Helper should show a new event called "AddToCart." If it does, you are golden. If not, check your setup.

The 'Test Events' Tool

Inside Facebook Events Manager, there is also a 'Test Events' tab. You can open your site in a special window, and Facebook will show you a graph of your activity in real-time. It is very satisfying to watch.
