Which Facebook Ads Metrics Actually Matter? (Ignoring Vanity Metrics)

When you open your Facebook Ads dashboard, it looks like the cockpit of a spaceship. There are columns of numbers everywhere. Reach, Impressions, Quality Ranking, Engagement Rate... it is overwhelming. The secret is that 90% of those numbers don't matter. You only need to watch three of them to run a profitable business.

Marketing has two types of data: Vanity Metrics and Money Metrics. Vanity metrics (like Likes and Shares) make your ego feel good, but they don't pay the rent.

1. ROAS (Return on Ad Spend)

This is the king. It tells you exactly how much money you made for every dollar you spent. If your ROAS is high, nothing else matters. You are winning.

2. CPA (Cost Per Action)

How much does it cost to get one customer? If you sell a $50 product and it costs you $20 to get the sale (CPA), you have $30 left for profit. You need to watch this number like a hawk.

3. CTR (Click-Through Rate)

This is a health check for your creative. If your sales are low, check your CTR. If it is below 1%, it means your ad is boring and people aren't clicking. If people don't click, they can't buy.

Simplifying the Dashboard

You can actually hide the columns you don't need. Go to "Columns" > "Customize Columns" and delete the clutter. Focus on the money.
