How to Create a Facebook Business Manager Account: A Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Setting up the technical side of Facebook ads is usually the most frustrating part. You click one link, and it takes you to a page that looks different than the tutorial you were watching. It is easy to get lost in the settings menu. But getting this set up correctly is the most important step you will take. Think of this as laying the foundation before you build the house.
Before you run ads, you need a "house" for your ad account. In the Facebook world, this is called the Business Manager. Many beginners make the mistake of running ads from their personal profile, which is risky and messy.
Business Manager keeps your personal baby photos separate from your business credit card. It is safer, more professional, and absolutely free.
Step 1: Go to the Right Place
Log into your personal Facebook account (you still need a personal profile to act as the admin). Then, open a new tab and go to business.facebook.com. You will see a big blue button that says "Create Account."
Step 2: Fill in the Details
A box will pop up asking for:
Your Business and Account Name: This should be your public business name.
Your Name: Use your real name, not a nickname. Facebook likes transparency.
Your Work Email: Use an email you check every day. This is where your bills and alerts will go.
Step 3: Add Your Page
Once you are inside the dashboard (which looks like a control panel), click on "Business Settings" (the gear icon). On the left menu, look for "Accounts" and then "Pages."
Click the big blue "Add" button. If you already own a Facebook Page for your business, select "Add a Page" and type in your page name. It should connect instantly since you are the admin.
Step 4: Create an Ad Account
Right below "Pages," you will see "Ad Accounts." Click "Add" and then select "Create a new ad account."
Important Warning!
When you create the ad account, it will ask for your Time Zone and Currency. Be very careful here. You cannot change this later. If you accidentally pick "Euros" instead of "Dollars," you are stuck with it forever. Triple-check this step.
